General Cycling Discussion - Suggestions please.

For lack of a better term, Bicycling Magazine now sucks! I'm really disappointed in their format. Way to much fluff for my liking. So I need a replacement.

I would prefere a US magazine though. Nothing against foreign mags. as long as they are in English, but they are often expensive, due to importing costs.

I already read Velo News so I don't need another racing mag.

I just need something that is similar to they way Bicycling used to be, you know when it was more quality substance and less crappy fluff.

I don't know of any... All the alternatives are MTB mags. (albeit some are elite by far above bicyclings new - lame - format). Cycle Sport is the only road mag., but it only deals with the pros, no bike reviews, no advice...

Hey, was just looking under "shameless promotions" and found a link to "iheartbikes.com"? (i think). Looks like a great grass-roots alternative, kinda like Dirt Rag...

Yes, they review bikes,m but they're all $$$$$!

I haven't found any other mag and I've been looking for several years.

In the mid to late 80s there was a great magazine that I subscribed to. I think it was called Bicycle Rider. Rodale probably pulled some strings to put them out of business. :(

Sure wish I could find another "good" magazine cause Bicycling isn't it. :crash:


I do read Cycle Sport and Cycle Plus and any other magazine I find on the newstands from time to time.
As you said, most are kinda pricey.
