Touring - touring bike-which should I buy?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am new to touring but not cycling. Would like to know what is a good touring bike to buy for beginning touring?

You might want to check out the touring bikes from Bruce Gordon Cycles at:
www.bgcycles.com
Also, they are made in the USA - if that means anything to you.

You might want to give some more details in your request: What type of touring do you want to do? What is your budget? What is your size? Do you want to buy a complete bike or just a frame? Is buying an American made frame important to you? Do you want to buy locally, or is buying online an option?
Without knowing any of the above; I would recommend the Bruce Gordon Frames. If it is a touring bike you want; there are few better than the BG's.
A well known tourer is the Trek 520. A popular choice is the Surley Long Haul Trucker, but I believe Surley only sells the frame and you or the LBS have to build it up. Fuji sells a touring model, which I have seen on sale at an LBS.
EDIT Never mind, check the sticky (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=180433)
