For all of you freeriders/downhillers/dirt jumpers out there, do you guys ever drink much Red Bull? If not, besides water, what else do you drink?

Monster energy drink, jolt, pretty much anything I can get cheap at the gas station.

Well, when I go out, I have my camelbak filled up with juice. Energy drinks are a little too much for how many times a week I go out biking. I have filled my camelbak with slurpee, and Propel one time. The Slurpee worked better than I thought it would.

About a can a month, apparently they're REALLY bad for your health (heart problems and the like). Still, Red Bull ain't too bad. :D

Red Bull can become addictive, and failing to satisfy that addiction can create several problems like lack of sleep, depression and lack of energy, the amount of adrenaline that your body releases when you drink Red Bull also puts your body in an alarming state which increase your heart pace which can in turn increase the chance of a heart attack if this accelerated heart pace is prolonged.

See, you should just use Gatorade or any other hidrating drink everytime you are going to EXERCISE (otherwise it can also create health problems) daily and you won't have any problems but you should just use Red Bull when you have a competition or something important as it does give you a big boost in energy and physical performance but the implications that come from using it too much are dreadful.

I don't like red bull. I'd say normally I just drink water or powerade, or if I must, gatorade. Though the schools cycling team's sponsored by Crunk, I've been known to only drink that entire weekends. It's good.

I second that.

I mostly just drink water, but I also drink a fair amount of Mt. Dew. I never drink any carbonated beverages before physical activities though.

Red Bull can become very addictive, before any kind of physical activity, I have an energy/protein bar(snickers protien bars is what I use) and then just keep hydrated with water.

Haha

Red Bull is liquid crack, I used to drink it in college durring finals week. That and I had quite a bit when I was in Europe which lead me to crashing in Berlin. I slept for a day straight, it wasn't pretty.

I don't do enery drinks when I bike, for me it's Gatorade or water....

When I do energy drinks:

http://www.missionliquor.com/Store/Qstore/uploads/rockstar250copy.gif

I was at NAMM (music inst. retail convention) a few years back with the guys in my band of the time, and they were GIVING these away for free. I probably drank 4 or 5 cans within 2-3 hours...it was a trip. I highly recommend everyone do this sometime. :D

I think they taste the best out of all the choices too. I don't drink it before biking though, they tend to dry you out. Sometimes if I have to wake up super-early for snowboarding I'll drink one, but that's pretty much it.

I drink redbull...but on rides its all water with a redbull ust in case. With a dropping blood sugar it helps get my energy back in case of emergency

Ironically most of the pros I know, smoke some pot before heading up the mountain and then a redbull (or visa versa) seriously creating a buzzing high with no more energy than when they started.

Its true. Red Bull speeds up your heart rate. If you have to many, it could be deadly.

Maybe ask your docter.

I miss the days of jolt. The true geek drink. Problem with redbull is it is excepted by all, partiers, jocks, extreme dudes, geeks, nerds...Jolt was the TRUE geek drink. If you saw someone with a jolt, you KNEW they played d&d or all night sessions of quake 3...

Redbull has ruined it...

They are even bigger than that. They are like a Monster Can, but like a buck cheaper.

water, gatorade, propel... one does not really need all that extrat caffine to cycle. You might want to increase your intake of clacium instead of caffine!!

I love the taste of REDBULL but only use it when drinking at a bar or during long driving trips and things. It skips my heart out when I try and ride after drinking a can. Its also expensive here in B.C. and is short on the ML'S. Coke has a new one out there which has more ML'S and is citrus flavoured with the exact same ingredients [ except more of them ] as Bull. After I started using energy drinks and stuff last year I have developed a craving that sometimes is felt when headed into a corner store.

Not too big on redbull, I don't really think that its necessary. You can get your energy from other stuff thats not as bad for you. I usually carry water in my camelbak and ill keep something sugary in the pocket (just in case i start getting dissy b/c my blood sugar is too low.)

I have had an occasional Red Bull. Usually its a shot of espresso or a Mt. Dew. Tempted to have a pre ride Sparks (http://www.sparks.com/main.html) the next time I hit the trails.

Red bull is not bad for you? i think it is better than soda. it has NO high fructose corn syrup in it, which i consider to be a little worse than straight sucrose. i already know what sucrose breaks down into...but still.
