I'll be at work, as usual. Just another day.

For me, it's just another excuse to hang out with friends and ummm...partake in the consumption of certain...intoxicating beverages. :D

I wasn't aware that an excuse was necessary. ;)

I moderate myself and drink only very rarely, so yes, I do need an excuse. And I might be like 1/10 Irish, so I gotta do something to celebrate!

Working.

Everyone is Irish on this Hallmark Holiday.

Maybe we should have a St. Stanislaus day too, and you can get drunk then too?

Im taking tomorrow afternoon off work to go have a few drinks, hopefully get a bunch of freebies from my barman (one being a sweet Guinness Leather Jacket), and play a lot of foosball..

I'm going to work and then celebrate with the 4 year old and teach her a bit about her heritage....and maybe make some green sugar cookies. I bought a four leaf clover cookie cutter and the kidlet has been itching to use it.

Gonna make some Half and Halfs (Guinness over Harp), eat some corned beef (I'm not Catholic, but Chicago's Cardinal George said it was okay to have beef, even if tomorrow is Friday, so that's all good), and then I'm going to pray pray pray that my dear alma mater Bradley Braves don't get totally blown out by Kansas in the first round of the NCAA basketball tourney...

May the road rise up to meet you....

This is just an aside and not at all meant to be a thread hijack:

Anyone going to a certain pub for the drink deals? Pub drinks are just so expensive now.

I'll check to see if this thread has been basted with a liberal dosing of Loc-tite by a moderator (no, not a sexual euphemism), and then head out to see a Celtic band from Philly called Blackthorn (http://www.IrishThing.com). My dad's side of the family is Irish, and my mom's side is Scottish, Welsh, and German. So, I can't help it: beer, bagpipes and/or accordions... that's a damn good Friday night!

Gonna say a prayer for St Patrick, propose a toast to him, toast the Archbishop for declaring a day of dispensation, and then drink plenty of Guinness.

I see I made too much of an IN-joke. The Brown Palace is a classic old hotel in Denver. Built by the Browns of "Unsinkable Molly Brown" fame. The rest of Denver seems to be concrete and stainless. The Palace is red sandstone and dark walnut. Period Georgian and Victorian. When she pushed me to finally DO it I said we would have to do it right. Not fumbling in the back seat of a car. We were awakened by the noise of the St. Patricks Parade outside the window the next AM. We looked outside and saw the school band going by. Quickly dressing we got out and caught up with the band for a free ride back to school.

Friends are talking about getting a cab and going downtown. I don't really feel like drinking tonight so I might just volunteer to be the cab service for the evening if they want to pay my covers to get into the bars. Plus, I want to take photos of the drunk people tonight, and being sober makes that a lot easier.

Still just working, but there's the grad program's happy hour at 5 PM. I'll have some pizza and perhaps a beer at that time.

Guess I celebrated St Patty's Eve with my church 'till midnight. My school had an assembly (loved how it all fell in place) and the green was a huge hit at school. Was really refreshing see good school spirit and the pretty color. I had a good day even if the start was a bit hard.

This year was the 98th St. Pats celebration at my school. Classes were cancelled for Thursday and Friday, so basically the whole campus was one big party for 3 days, today we are all recovering. Last night it was all capped off with a foam party at Kappa Sig.
