A friend of mine has a line on a new set of Mavic Cosmos wheels for C$350 [@ US$220]. I don't know much about the wheels myself, being a Campy guy, except that the look like OP rims. She wants them to replace her CXP21s... opinions?

The Postal Service team has used them in past years along with many other cycling teams. So the can't be too bad ;) . As for personal experience, I have none, but it seems like she got a good deal on them so I would see no problem in her using them.

Does that mean that she has Shimano? If not, you can get Protons or Sciroccos for that price - I have seen quite a few on the Web.

Well, she's getting them at the price of OPs, which is a great deal. Before I upgraded my CXP21s to CXP33s, I lusted after my friend's Cosmos wheels. They were stock on his Bianchi Vigorelli. Somewhere I read really good opinions of the Mavic hubs around which these wheels are built. Does anyone know if they are handbuilt or come out of a factory in Japan?

I believe the pro teams used Cosmic Experts, not Cosmos a
much cheaper wheel.
Velocipedio, From what I understand they are pretty good,
comparable to proton and have been recently reduced in
price. No, they are not going to be Ksyriums or Heliums
for $200 (usd), but they're servicable...
yeah, go for it.

I've had a set for a couple of years now, and I like them. The've stayed in true, even when I went over 200 pounds. I just finished psuedo rebuilding the rear, but that was due to cracked nipples. I haven't had any trouble with them. A good every day wheel that someone could probably race on, if they weren't too much of a techno snob. :D
