Commuting - new Soma fenders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hmm... (http://somafab.com/eurotripfenders.html) I love the colors but I hate those dumb mudflaps, and the brackets look a little cheesy.
Agreed, the colours are great. These could singlefenderedly spice up a dull bike! :)
I would assume the mud flaps can be removed.

Yep. With some creative drilling or sawing/Dremeling I'm sure those silly mudflaps would come off. Just not sure it's worth the trouble when you can get SKS for a few bucks more.

Seems like a lot of money for a pretty standard design. I can understand SKS gouging the market on their raceblades; they are truly unique. But these just aren't that different from existing designs to justify paying that much. Then again.....they did use the word "Euro" in the name, so that should be worth at least a few bucks, right? ;)

Those look like the ones that came on my Milano(minus logos and mudflaps). The mounting system actually looks much cleaner than SKS's. I really hate the goofy rubber bumpers SKS supplies to put on the ends of the struts, and the extra adjustability doesn't really help them fit that much better,it just leads to extra fiddling at setup(or when someone bumps your bike and knocks them out of wack).
Between the nicer mounts and the color choices,I think I'd go with a set of these over the SKS's next time I need fenders.

Too bad they only come in black for MTB and hybrids.

WOW, and I just bought a set of Freddys'. Bummer. That's ok, I would get the black set anyway. I wish they had a full pic of them installed on a roadie.

Some guy showed me how to make fenders out of old bicycle tires. I think I'm going to try that.
