Is anyone familiar with this frameset? I'd like to know the type of tubes used and the dropout spacing. It's an older frame, but I'm not sure how old. Thanks.

Varies by age, I'd imagine... Check vintage-trek.com for details; you may be able to figure out what you're looking at by going through the old brochures, and if you can get the serial number, you can probably pin down exact year in order to get construction details from the brochures.

I just sold one of these on ebay that was an 89 or 90 model. If I remember right, dropout spacing was 130 and the tubing was double butted true temper 4139 cromoly. The frame was black with bright green decals, if that helps you compare the vintage of this one to yours.

Thanks for the tip about vintage-trek. It took a while, but I found it: 1984-420, Main tubes: Tange Mangalloy, fork and stays: Tange high tensile. I don't know anything about tubes this old?

The Tange Mangalloy was decent if slightly heavy stuff, and nothing beats the ride quality of those old Treks - I think it's a keeper! What did you have to pay for it?
