I have an old Pinarello that I would like to get rid of. I posted it on craigslist and have had many interesting replies. Several of the guys suggested that I get an idea of the value of the bike before I accept an offer. So I am contacting a couple of the places they suggested. And YOU are one of them.

Here is a link to my post and a few pictures which I am planning on deleting soon. I have put off everyone that wants to see it so that I have more of an idea of what I would accept before I have them drive out to see it. (kind of backwards posting here now but I didn't know about you before the post on craigslist. )

http://mysite.verizon.net/ressfkdg/ craigslist link deleted but this one works:)

Thank you for your help :)

Not sure on a value, but I'd buy it from you if it were a few centimeters smaller. ;)

God, I want that.

That bike is worth around at least 900-1000 bucks today. If I had that kind of bread, I'd be all over it.

Oh, and it might be worth putting an ad for that bike on www.roadbikereview.com

The classifieds section there is well-visited and bikes seem to sell pretty quickly there.

A nice example, appears in excellent shape.

A fantastic 1991 De Rosa went for $580.00 around here recently (Santa Barbara), so any reasonable offer over $450.00 would seem okay.

These things are difficult to judge, bicycles are very subject to "The eye of the beholder", so no two like bikes go for the same amount!

Wait for some additional posts before taking my advice!

A Treviso is no rare Pinarello, nice... but not exclusive.

The type of person that really, really wants it, cannot afford it, and the individual that can fork out the cash, wants a TDF Pinarello with Campagnolo Record throughout. Catch 22 of the bike world.

Thank you all for you posts. I tried to get on roadbikereview but it never sent me the email to confirm. So it won't let me post. :(

I will keep watching to see what kind of $$ thoughts you guys have...

Thanks again.

It seems to be in good shape. I can't tell what model it is from the picture, however. Are the fork and chainstays chrome? Treviso Italia is the town where Pinarello is based. All of their bikes said that. The model name would be on the top tube.
It would be worth more with all Campy components. If it is a Treviso it would be worth about $350 to $500.
The '87 Asola came in that color with all Shimano 600 components, that is probably what it is. It would probably worth about the same.
If it actually has a chrome fork, it is probably a Dolamite, but it has had its Shimano 105 components replaced.
A lot of the value is going to depend on the quality of the derailleurs. If you could post pictures of where the chain attaches to the rear wheel and the thing the pedals are attached to from the right side of the bike, we could give you a better idea.

Yes the fork is chrome. I will take a few more pictures today. I couldn't find any other words on the bike.

My old b. had many frames. But I believe this one was one of the custom built ones from Pinarello. He told me he had to have a really stiff top tube to keep from bending the frames. (I saw some of those frames so he was not telling tales) So you may not be able to match it to a particualar model. But I really don't know.

I dated the guy from 85-87 and he did not give me one of his new frames. So I think it is older than '85.

The only campy component on the bike is the petals (and the water bottle which I will keep). The cyclist built this bike for me from one of his many frames. So he picked the components for me (and he was a poor cyclist so he did not give me top of the line components -- just a really nice frame.

The handlebars and stem(?) say cinella
The shimano 600 is just below the stem and just above the fork.
and everything else says suntour on it as far as I can tell.
petals are campy.

I will get the photos soon.

Thanks again

Sounds like a lovely bike. Could you take a picture of the bottom bracket shell (the thing that holds the cranks)? From above - we could tell the difference between an SL Pinarello and an SLX Pinarello by the shape of the bottom bracket where all of the tubes enter into it.

ok, the bike is in my van right now. So I will post pics tomorrow morning. I did let one very nice guy see it this weekend -- he was so nice and I told him I was not ready to sell it yet. But he still wanted to see it. :)

I am still waiting on an email or call back from Pinarello in US or Italy. I talked to a Pinarello guy briefly and he said he would tell me how old the bike is. The serial number is 0884. I would think that just knowing that there are only 3 digits (or 4 if you count the leading zero) would narrow it down.

Oh well, thanks for thinking of me. I get to the pics as soon as I get the bike out of the van.

Thank you all for you replies and help.

Here is a link to some pictures. I think this is what you wanted.

I can't seem to get the file small enough to post here. So I hope you don't mind a link.

I am happy to email a zip file with more pics if anyone is interested.
