Having known too many cyclists (both solo and tandem) that have been injured by falls on slippery low water crossings, we almost always dismount and walk across (and have slipped and almost fallen doing that!) Gotta keep that stoker safe and happy!!

Agree 100%!
In the rare times that we get rain here in southern AZ, the dry washes can turn into raging rivers. Murky water does not show any possible obstacles/rocks/debris/sand.
Just like ccyclocross: dismount, shoulder the tandem and wade across!
