Bicycle Mechanics - Key stuck in Kryponite lock

I have a kryptonite evolution mini U-lock with the new laser-cut style keys that is about a year old now. A few days ago the key got stuck in the lock while I was locking up outside and now it won't come out at all. I can still use the key to lock and unlock, but it won't come out no matter how I turn or jiggle it. Have any of you come across this problem before, or know of a solution? (short of sending it off to kryptonite for replacement) Thanks!

I've had that happen a few times. All I did was jiggle it and fiddle more and it eventually comes loose. There was a thread a few months ago explaining why this happens but I don't have time to search.
It was something about not engaging all the tumblers before opening.

You might try this carefully.... get a torch and gently heat the lock. You don't want too hot, just enough heat to get some of the parts to expand a little. Then use some pliers to jiggle the key and keep doing so as the parts cool down. A locksmith friend of mine has used this trick lots of time to free keys the seem stuck. The idea is not to blast too much heat on it, just enough to get some mild expansion.

fairly hefty application of a lighter to my lock that had a stuck key didn't do much of anything...

had friends drive home and back with extension cords so we could cut my bike free with an angle grinder.

kryptonite's getting a letter and their evolution iv sent to them.

p.s. angle grinder made short work of the 'u' part of the mini u lock. 30 seconds.
