Road Bike Racing - Why can't they leave Tyler alone?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you break the rules - prepare to face the consequences. Back when I was in the sport compact / european car scene people would always ***** that they had to pay a fine because they didn't have a catalytic converter and failed a visual inspection, or they'd be surprised and annoyed when after 20k miles of aggressive driving, street/strip/track racing the clutch connected to their supercharged engine (which was producing nearly 50% more power than from the factory) failed and the dealer wouldn't replace it under warranty. The response to these people from the rest of our group (who all had similar things doen to our cars but didn't *****) would be "you've gotta pay to play".
I'm sorry but Tyler, if you're breaking the rules by doping you're going to get caught.
Admittedly he isn't breaking the rules now and is completely free to continue the races for anyone who doesn't hold a UCI license (which is basically any non-trade team pro or any amateur racer in the US). Of course thats gonna cut down on the success of the races, but its not like this rule came out of nowhere. Sure you can skirt the rules and possibly get away with it, but at the same time you have to realize you ARE doing something wrong and should be prepared to face the consequences.

Why can't they leave Tyler alone? Why can't he leave us alone! I'm about tired of his cries of innocence and persecution. He got caught. End o' story. I really liked Tyler, for that matter I still do. He got caught doing what 90% of the peloton is most likely doing, boosting his performance illegally. I wish he that he was still racing with rest but he ain't so it's time to move on.

Easy, he doped. Now he has to take the punishment; like it or not. I don't think he should have been allowed to do mnt washington last year either. A ban should mean no racing, no fame, no money, no sponsors...

Tyler just needs to stop racing until his suspension is done and everyone will be happy. He IS on a 2 year suspension and was found guilty; it doesn't matter that everyone loves him. I know it's a charity event but he needs to lay low and just knock it off. I know a couple of guys he’s been training with and to hear them tell it, Tyler really is just about the nicest guy you’d want to meet but he still shouldn’t be racing.
And it isn't just Tyler who catches heat for this stuff. There are a number of D3 level pros who pull the same crap and it's met with just as much disapproval although it usually isn't covered on cyclingnews. Two that come to mind are Dave Fuentes and Adam Bergman.
Fuentes did some MTB racing (sport class no less) and pounded everyone into the ground, go figure he's a pro roadie who doped.
Bergman rode in a number of wisport and other non-sanctioned events and of course won pretty much everything. I actually really like Adam. He's a great guy and I personally know he's been tested all along while on suspension. That doesn't mean he should be racing now though.

Great point. Hamilton's not getting singled out, rather he's just news worthy. Even if they're "making an example" out of him, this is good. It shows that you can't F around without consequences.

F Tyler and the dog he rode in on. If he gives the gold medal to Eki, I'll respect him a tiny bit. Now that is less than zero. If I was in a race w/ that F, I'd be all over chastising him in a big way. How cool is it to race against local guys?
Not that I have an opinion one way or another.... :)
Whether or not he actually did cheat, it is official. He's guilty. When he next races and wins, I will wait a year or two before I acknowledge that the drug testing confirms he actually won. While I'm waiting though, I ain't gonna worry about it. He will after all, be a formerly convicted doper.

Hey, I'm pretty sure Tugboat was clean.

Pro cyclists are in it for the money. If Tyler had taken a knife, and cut someone else's tire just before a time trial, everyone would agree that he is a crook and a cheat. By using illegal methods to win, he was stealing money from the Pro cyclists who race clean.
I'm really really tired of someone robbing the bank, and after the cops catch the bank robber, his friend's say "Why won't the cops leave Bubba alone?" The COPS are the "bad guys?" Yeah, right.
Tyler should be living in France or Italy and pounding the cols
hard. all the time. when suspension is over, he'd never need
EPO again.

Yeah, he's keeping the case in front of the press. No one's out to get him. Although, the way he's fighting it you kinda have to wonder. But regardless, it's not a matter of the press singling him out. He's fighting this publicly.

Tyler is an unrepentant, busted cheat.. who is supposed to be on suspension and instead he's trying to find ways around his suspension by setting up a series that just happens to have a half the peloton filled with some of the best US UCI domestic pros... and is really just trying to thumb his nose as UCI, WADA and the cycling in general...
you should be asking why is Tyler not leaving cycling alone..
he should go away.. do his time like everyone else and then show his face... although i'm not sure how he can show his face with the disgrace he's caused himself and everyone around him

he didn't use EPO, he transfused another person's blood.

My Golden Retriever doesn't need EPO. He can outrun me in the woods on my MTB all day long. At least going UPhill. Going downhill I crush that dopey pooch.

Yeah, I'd pick cycling over university or a pro baseball career because of the magnificent $$$ available as a pro cyclist.

Well...based on what's on Bikeforums, the "experts" here would tell you that no one is clean. The world of professional cycling is broken into two parts...
Those that have been caught
Those that have yet to be caught.
So, I am curious who the cyclists are that Hamilton stole money from?
BTW...I am sure that YOU do not do a job "for the money"...
