I learned the most awesomest of tricks tonight. I learned how to remove and reinstall a track cog with out using a chain whip. There are some directions i found somewhere online. I can't find em right now but maybe someone else has seen it. My directions will make no sense. Basically, You wrap your chain around the bottom bracket (with a towel under it) and then around the cog and overlap the chain on itself and start turning the wheel. Way more easy then using chain whip. Now all you need is a lockring spanner.

Now the question. Has anyone else ever damaged anything using this trick? It seems safe enough as long as you know what you are doing in the first place.

From the instant I read the thread title I got scared of the verbal beatdown commencing in the thread. BTW, it's called rotafixing.

Thanks, I didn't know what it was called. I also didn't realize how common it is. No one else i know has ever heard of such a trick.

[EDIT** Huh, funny, i also did not realize there was another thread going currently that mentions rotafixings.
I guess i'm found out, i don't read every thread. Especially an IRO thread.
