I used to live in across the river from the Bois de Boulogne (great place for bike rides).
Inside the park there is a horse racing track (Hippodrome).
The access road around the racetrack is closed on weekends for joggers and cyclists.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings there are about 60-80 cyclist chasing a moped aound the access road.
Try and see if you can keep up with them.
Inside the park there are several lakes and equestrian clubs also.
Here is a sit about the park:

Here is a site with a map to the hippodrome lonchamps:

I would avoid La Defance, North Paris and North East Paris.
Enjoy

you still here?
i've been in paris off and on for a couple of months....only know of one other fixie rider, another yankee ex-messenger....
cobblestones=sux
scooters=sux
ciculation cops=(90euros for running a red light)=super sux
old-timey ex bike racers looking at you and your brakeless trackbike sideways and then telling you that your bike isn't "manly" enough for paris streets=hella cool
