Buncha jackyls LOL....not even one bid this morning when I left for the store. Then with 3 Minutes left the snipers move in....Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against sniping....but I like to give folks a heads up....I'll toss a low bid in, early on just to let people know they're not the only person in cyberspace who are looking...a warning shot over the bow if you will...Then I will snipe on occasion.

This just blew me away though. The lotus is just all lonely then BAM!

Sniping is the Ebay way.I just had someone confirm that there is "sniping software" so you don't have to synchronize your watch and sit with your finger over the button-like I do.I figured there was such a thing, but I hadn't confirmed it 'till recently.
I had some brake levers that sat at 98 cents for 5 days and were at $15 with 1 hr left-sold for >$100-I was stunned.Luck,Charlie
PS I'm always surprised when anyone bids early-what is the point?Hoping to scare other folks off-or in some cases, maybe a lot of cases-shilling.

I use auctionsniper.com, have for years, but I like the warning shot approach too...then you don't come off as such an animal I think LOL (is that possible LOL? Like civil war? HAHA). Really more so I establish that I'm in the game and I don't get the nasty emails from other bidders.

the early bid on this one was still late in the game...that is what really shocked me most I guess.

I'm also wondering now what my '82 Lotus Unique would fetch if that went for $132. My lotus is pristine with the shimano 600 derailiers....hmmmmmm

tozovr-how fast will this software allow you to bid.By "hand" I can probably get 2 bids in -in the last 30-35 seconds.I have to wait for the screen to "tell" me what the high bid is etc.I normally wait 'till the last 15 seconds and just take my best shot.
If this siftware communicates "instantly" with ebay-and doesn't have the "lags" between clicks-messages etc-it would be a huge advantage.Thanks.Charlie

It will throw the bid in at you desired setting....they set default at 5 seconds and that seems to work well for me.

Go and poke around....when you sign up you get 3 free snipes and whenever you refer someone you get another 3. I've never paid for a snipe :)

I used to sit and wait to bid on stuff at the last second, but I have changed my ways and now bid the most that I am willing to pay and let it go at that. If I don't win, no problem because I had bid my maximum amount and didn't get caught up in a bidding frenzy that I would sometimes later regret. If I do win, I got the item for no more than what I was willing to pay for it...often times less than my maximum. This system works for me as I always end up with plenty of stuff...

That's how I do it with Auction Sniper...I'll put a normal proxy bid in to let th ebuyer/other bidders know I'm in the game and then my maximum bid in auction sniper...It's key to know youre max. I often get an email from Auction sniper tellimg me I'm out of the game with an hour to go.

The thing amazing about that auction: Free Shipping to the US. Huh? That's like a $50 giveaway. It's like you're losing money if you don't bid!

If you bid early on ebay, you are bidding against yourself. More often than not, some newbie will obsess with winning the auction many days before it is over. I usually allow about 2 or 3 seconds until the end of the auction to confirm my bid.

The sniper would be great if you were not available to bid at end time, though.
