I don't know if the forum software is capable of it, but it might make the Classifieds easier to use if the website required users to select from a variety of tags in order to identify what they're posting about. The tag gets listed to the left of the thread title, and someone browsing the forum would be able to skim at a glance to see "generally" what's being offered up or sought after. I've seen this employed in other forums, and the tags themselves are usually hotlinked; so clicking on a tag of "hybrid" (for example) would show all the for-sale items that were tagged that way. This makes for a cleaner interface, and is much easier than asking members to adhere to a particular format with their classified postings.
Some examples:
"recumbent"
"road"
"mtb"
"parts"
"other"
"cyclocross"
"apparel"
"gear"
Just an idea

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
