Road Cycling - Opinions on Klein bikes...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Kleins are beautiful. But, how do they perform? What are your experiences with these bikes...?
Thanks

Rode a beautiful 2000 Quantum Pro w/ full DA and Rolf Vector Pro's today! I love it... I think this is the one! $2500! The cassette is 11-23 though, it's a $70 upgrade to 11-27. It's such a smooth ride, I'm very impressed with the ride and feel of the bike - very confidence inspiring! It's a bit longer than the 2001 trek 5200 that I also rode today, but much more stable on the descents...

Hawkphoto. I own a 2001 QP.. Love it, I second all you have to say.. Would buy it again. Sometimes it occurs to me, the price at year's end for a Litespeed is not that much greater than a Klein.... Might that be the better choice for the money?
Any out there know first hand, the difference in the ride between an Klein and a Litespeed...
The aluminum frame that Klein has built is very, very comfortable. Originally, I was not considering aluminum frames.

I'm the proud owner of a '99 Quantum Race, full DA / vector pro's, sub 17lbs etc... I love this bike, just hit 5000 miles this year, and purchased the bike early summer!
If the bike fits you, and your style of riding, go for it. The bike is amazing, but it really doesn't fit my style of riding, I'm actually thinking about selling it (what size are you looking for?) and purchasing a cyclocross bike, as I'm more of a utilitarian / touring / commuting cyclist then racer.

If you're willing to sacrifice a few grams, you can get an Ultegra (albeit 12-27) for about half that. (I believe they are compatible, fit-wise.)

Before you make any decisions have your LBS do a FIT. If the bike doesn't fit you will NOT like it!!
My future father-in-law just bought the Klein QP 2001 from my local LBS (which I should have gotten the commission on that one, but thats another story). I took it for a VERY long ride and fell in love with it. I have been testing a lot of different bikes this past summer and fall, Pinarello, Bianchi, Mercx, Colnago, Cannondale, Klein and a few others. In my opinion, I would have to say the ride of his Klein QP came very close to the Pinarello Prince and put my C'dale to SHAME! All I have to say is that if I cant get the Cinelli Starship next summer, I am going to buy a Klein QP.
Now here's an interesting KLEIN.
its currently on e-bay:
2001 Klein Quantum Pro 56cm painted like a Pinarello Prince due to sponsorship purposes.

isn't trek doing the mitring on klein's carbon bikes now? i don't know much about them other than that, and the fact that they really are beautiful to look at.
..... interesting.
I emailed Klein a few weeks ago and asked if Klein will still keep designing and building their "OWN" frames and not be assimulated into Trek. I got a response from "Gary Klein" saying that they would indeed keep Klein as is as far as he can see. I have nothing against Trek but in my opinion why wreck a good thing. Also in my opinion, I think Klein builds a better bike frame, not even mentioning their awesome paint jobs.

my point was that klein, "as is," has work done by trek on their carbon frames. trek cuts the tubes with a laser miter (apparently they hold the patents on LOTS of carbon technology), then ships them back to klein. this from a guy who deals treks and kleins. apparently even NASA has trek do some of their carbon work.
