i just got a new wheelset with pro max hubs and i notice that they seem to "work" differently than my iro hubs. what i mean by this, is that i can hold the axle in my hand with the iro hubs and the wheel spins around the axle, but with the promax it seems that the "spinning" part is seperate. in other words the hub doesn't spin around the axle, it spins around a part attached to the axle. what's the difference? i've searched, but didn't find.

yeah, pro max sb. but aren't the iro ones cartridge as well? the reason i ask, is that the old iro ones seem to move more freely, especially the front wheel. my new front wheel stops spinning pretty fast when i give it a spin of the ground.

this guy has the promax with the disco pattern thing ( i met you at t* yesterday, we talked about my iro and yours etc). i would just wait till the t* people get back and have them fix it for you, if you
can't wait maybe you could try nyc velo. nice to meet you.

hmm, that sounds slightly strange.

that being said, it might just be that the seals on your new ones need to break in a bit, and the whell will spin better once that happens...

i don't have those hubs though, so it's just guesswork on my part.

do you mean me? if so, i think you have me confused with somebody else. unless i've been sleep walking again. although i do have an iro.

but what accounts for the difference in "style" between my iro hubs that spin on the axle as opposed to the pro max if they are both cartridge bearings?

Promax SB's have a dust cover over the cartridge bearings.
maybe that's what you think the hub is rotating around?

but if i hold the axle in my hand, shouldn't the wheel spin?

I have both the IRO and Pro Max SB. Just spun them and I noticed the dust cap spins with the hub on the IRO, but not with the hub on the Pro Max. If that settles anything.

I also just got my Pro Max SB's from T* and have put about 75 miles on them. They ran sticky at first but are now nice and smooth.

ah, yes. thank you. i thought there might have been something wierd with my hubs since iro was my only reference and since the pro max seemed "slow", hopefully they will "quicken" up. beautiful build on your new bike by the way.

Trust me, it does.
