I tried to get an answer in the classic forum but no one replied so I'll try here I have been trying to get a fixed gear for a longgg time but cash is tight so

My LBS offered me a Mint Pinarello frame with a Pinarello fork in mint condition for $250:00 Canadian When I was asking them about a fixed gear bike it looks almost like the frame in the link below . is this a good deal ? http://www.oldskooltrack.com/files/...ello.frame.html

(your link is busted)

is it a track frame? (and actually, it doesn't reall matter, $250 for a pinerello frame and fork is a great deal either way).

if it's a track frame it's a freakin' steal...

Why convert such an nice, vintage bike. Use that $250 and buy an actual track bike and let someone who'll do it justice buy that.

If that bike is being ridden on the street, rather than sitting in a shop, then justice has been done.

I hate this conversion fever crap. I'll never understand someone who can't respect a bike for what it is with out thinking "That'd be a awesome conversion".

Well I was about to buy the Blue Pinarello when one of the shop guy's mentioned they had another in the store fully loaded sooooooo for a little bit more Cash I took the Red and White Pinarello and they converted it to a single speed it has alot of campi parts too , I took some fast pictures and will put the links below , it is a sweet ride indeed :) http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7364/791/1600/dd.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7364/791/1600/ccc.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7364/791/1600/b.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7364/791/1600/ee.jpg

Awesome. Now dremmel off the brake lines and put track ends on it. There's a mostly complete 80's DA group sitting at my LBS. Some guy found his dad's old road bike and stripped the stuff to convert it. Beautiful downtube shifters and awesome dimpled chainring.

Yes I kept the good parts but the campi brakes were not part of the deal and I paid well under 500 the blue frame is still there for sale .

Oh jesus lord all mighty, yes. While they are a tad weighty, by far the best looking brakes ever.

convert the hell out of it! Mine sat around and got ridden maybe once every two weeks as a pure roadie. Since the conversion it has seen nearly 10,000 miles and is ridden almost every day of the week!

Yeah, and they were a total beast to wrench on. I worked at a roadie shop when those things came out, and if I hadn't already cut my hair off, I would've pulled it all out.

The brakes that came off were NOT Deltas. My boss came into the basement and asked me "hey, you know those Campy brakes that are worth a lot of money? Are those the ones?" I told him they weren't but he still wanted to keep them. (I personally always found Delta's to be a ***** to work on.......obscure imperial allen keys, needle nose pliers, fine motor coordination and gobs of time and concentration are not usually things I care to utilize on a simple brake adjust) ANYWAY there were chainline issues with the conversion so i will probably respace the hub and re-dish the wheel for STEEKER if he will leave the bike with us again, but he probably will not want to part with it until after the honeymoon. Said chainline issues also led to low-ish gearing of 42-18 but we can take care of that once the hub is done.......and it probably ain't such a bad thing for those big ol' Beaches hills!

Come on, they look so nice :) They were intended for 22mm rims and, with new pads work there OK.
