I recently had the pleasure to purchase a Selle Royal CX NOS saddle. I don't think I will keep it because it has gold trim and always prefer sticking to silver contrast. I think I bought it because it is insanely beautiful and well constructed and just to hold it. There are several versions of this mid 80's top of the line saddle. All have the open nose so that air can pass through the front instead of around. All have interesting curved seat rails that double back in the rear, and thickish but extra firm padding. Mine is special in that it comes in heavily grained high tech leather like or leather covering that is hand/machine stitched along the edge like a fine boot or shoe. Not all versions have this stitching, and certainly not all versions are complete with the original transport cover in blue rubber. Mine has a gold engraved CX on either side of the nose... a gold metal trim piece on the front and gold untarnished virgin rails. I want to sell it but I am not confident that it will fetch what I want on Ebay. Sometimes, like last week, I was astonished to have my Selle Italia Special Turbo black leather used saddle go for $43 but if the CX went for less than $80 than I'd rather just hold on to it and display it as an object of art. I want this to go to a collector who will buy it to mount on a special classic bike, and really appreciate it. I might post photos to those that are curious but I don't have a photo service as yet so it would have to be person to person. I have a perfect Ebay record for those that are cautious (just check out this weeks sale of a Turbo Special saddle (biankita1), for a listing of everything I have sold on Ebay.
