If you live in the Portland OR area, you've got to go see "Wired to Win:Surviving the Tour de France" at the OMSI Omnimax Dome Theatre. Amazing, jaw-dropping helicopter and motorcycle shots of the 2003 race (by far the most exiting in recent history), interviews, and science to boot. It was refreshing to see a big production that wasn't focused only on Lance. Check out: http://www.omsi.edu/visit/omnimax/ and http://www.wiredtowinthemovie.com/

OK i need help here, my physics club that i am in is going to the OMSI on upcoming field trip (we live in idaho). One of the things we are going to do is see an IMAX movie

the day we are going to the omsi the only options are:

Tour de france movie
Dolphins

im voted out 10-1, everyone else wants to see dolphins. This is a once in a lifetime chance for me, how can i convince everyone else that this is more then just a video of sweaty guys riding around france?

If you can't convince them, try what Chris Farley did at the end of the movie Tommy Boy with duct tape and road flares. That or ditch the submarine or planetarium portion of the omsi tour and see the show. Tell them you're sick. The movies only 1 hour.

DVD? 80 % of the coolness is the IMAX part

Was it obvious they did some different editing to not make Tyler Hamilton the main focus of the film, as originally planned?

Except some of us are nowhere near an IMAX and would still like to see it, unless you want to bring in a camera and film it for us.

Went to see it Saturday night, 6:30 at the local megaplex. Theater was almost empty, maybe 20 others in the audience, most of whom had bike tans.

Good show, with kind of an interesting focus on what happens in people's brains when they're riding. Sort of an odd theme for an imax movie, I thought, although some of the shots of the riders, the Alps and other stages of the TDF were pretty striking. Worth the $9.

A few of the scenes did seem pretty staged, and I think those were the ones that had been re-shot after Hamilton's ban. Being only 40 minutes long, the bulk of the appeal really was the IMAX format. Seems like it would lose a lot on a small screen.

Cheers.
