Please see the below link to a post I made. I am trying to burn over 300 photos to a DVD as slideshow but it fails each time. Burning videos has not been a problem. I don't quite understand what the vob's are that are referred to in the post. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

That sounds like your problem, more than 99 pictures. Depending upon the player, there's many ways to create a slideshow. Some will play a folder with a bunch of JPG files in it. Best way to adhere to the standards is to make a movie out of your images, can also add background music:

Then burn the movie onto the DVD like any other movie.

Forgive the question, but why do you need a slide show on dvd? How big are these files?

My wife scanned over 300 photos for a DVD slideshow for her grandparent's 50th anniversary. Looks like about 300-700kb per photo.

Just put them on the dvd as data, and put them in the DVD player. THen you are done. Or save some pennies and put them on CD.

Are you in agreement then, that the max. is 99 photos (or vob's??) per DVD not 99 photo's per chapter?

The way the files are laid out on the DVD is everything inside one folder. So it doesn't matter how many chapters you have, the files are still in one folder labeled something like VTS_01_01.VOB, VTS_01_02.VOB, etc.

I think most DVD players will play jpeg. Begs the question of why you wouldn't just put them on the DVD that way???

Because of the added benefit of transitions from one photo to another and the addition of a soundtrack. Otherwise you are right, save the .jpegs to a CD and the DVD player will take care of the rest.

Sounds like you need a program like Windows Movie Maker 2 which is part of XP, or ULEAD Studio or something like that. I guess the question here is....what program are you using to try and edit and author?
