How is the Shimano BB-UN53... if anyone knows let me know. I'm just trying to see if its good or not, because my current B-B is making clunking noises, so yeah. Appreciate it.

solid, affordable.
I broke two within a year (got really crunchy). However, it seems like I had two flawed ones since everyone else seems to like them very much.
mine is fine. and its cheap.

Haven't had a problem with mine in 9 or 10 months since I put it on. The upside is, if it does go to hell, it's not that expensive a loss.

i like mine til i cross threaded it after a paint job last week when i thought it was just tight because the paint. now thats its in correctly it moves up and down a little. I am told i have about 2 weeks before i am ****ed. I am also told that i have to get a new BB and that my case should be fine.
Its an 80's puegeot (at least i hope its 80s and not french). Does any one wanna sell me a English BB or a italian BB (i can strip the threads and put new italian ones in there i am told) or possibly one of those jap ones that doesnt require threads????
have one on my daily beater, works just fine.
I'm also running one of these. The price is right and it seem to be working just fine for me after a few hundred miles so far. This is your barebones sealed cartridge bearing BB. If it craps out on you, you can replace it for less than a lot of people spend at the bar on any given drinking night.

Awesome... thanks everybody... i went and bought one today, after i saw all the posts, and you all seem to be correct. Its a lot smoother than my previous bb... quieter too. And i sure do like the cost. Thanks for the help everyone.

just be careful when installing.
tighten the metal cup 100% and the plasic non-drive side 80%.
also, DON'T slip up when tightening the plasic cup cause you can crack it.
Lastly, apply a liberal amount of grease.
