instead of "skatelite" use "masonite" (i think thats what its called)
its like skatelite thats not skatelite...
no one said anything about skatelight
besides, masonite isnt good when its gets when and has to go thorugh temperature stuff
im not really gonna be picky htough
im not planning on getting any of the wood legally (see: school is going under renovation therfore free wood in construction site)

skatelite is over $100.00 a sheet. masonite is worthless when it gets wet and has very little strength on it's own.
for a 4 foot tall ramp, what I would make it with a six foot tranny. this will allow you to air it some and do peg tricks just fine. you will need;
1 sheet of 5/8 or 3/4 ply for the sides. (thicker is better, you could probably use 1/2 if you want..but I wouldn't)
20 or so 2x4's. the more you use, the stronger it's going to be. it will also be heavier.
I like using 3/8 ply for the riding surface. I would double it up. put down one layer, then a second ontop.
1/2 inch will work for the deck.
if you need ramp plans, google it. there are PLENTY of free plans on the internet.
I have been building quarters for 20 plus years....My information is from experience.

Actually, all you really need is three bags of Quikrete and a day to work with.
thanks pnj
can someone explain to me how i would cut the side plywood into a good tranny?

2 1/4" pieces of plywood for the decking. 1 sheet of 3/4" plywoood for the sides. Around 10-12 2x4x8's.
[edit] hand draw the side walls with pencil until it looks right. Then trace a replica for the 2nd side.
to draw the shape on your sides, lay the plywood on the ground. get a piece of string and a pencil and a nail or stick or something that can be place into the ground.
tie the pencil to the string. tie the other end of the string to the nail or whatever and jam it into the ground (being on dirt/grass makes it much easier;)). you have just created a large compass that you can use to draw a very large circle. you will be only drawing a quarter of a circle though, on your plywood. if you use a six foot piece of string you will get a six foot radious.

you can see from those pictures how they got two sides from one piece of ply. don't make your ramp as mellow as that though. and DON'T just eyeball it. it won't be anything like you think it will be once you cut it out.
