Hi there...I'm fairly new to Bike Forums and would like to enlist the help of all those who know about Peugeots. I have attempted many times to find out the model of my frame by searching the web and examining old photos from poorly scanned catalogs, and I have a guess, but I am not sure. Here is what I know:
* I bought the frame off eBay several years ago...the owner did not know what it was. It came with a steel cottered crank on it.
* It has Nervex luggs.
* The chain stays do not appear to be chromed.
* Has a braze-on on the right side only, of the down tube for a shifter...but cable braze-ons on the down tube right above the BB on both right and left sides.
* Derailleur hanger does not appear to be the "hook" type (although I've not seen one so I cannot be sure.) It is drilled, but not tapped...and recessed on one side.
* Had terrible new paint over the original but I scraped some away and discovered the original paint was white with the familiar black and white checkered flag on the seat tube...and if I remember right the words "tube especial" or something to that effect.
* Serial number is stamped in the bb shell and reads 982951
* There are two braze-ons on the right chain stay. The front one is a rather plain looking cable stop made of just a flat piece of metal; the rear on is fancier with a brass screw type adjuster threaded into it.
* The fork is chrome on the lowers and appears to have rather plain looking luggs.
* It has un-tapped fender or rack mounts on the rear drop-outs, which are Simplex.
I guess that's it aside from a photo. From what I can gather it is possibly a PA10...(I have ruled out UO8 due to the non hook type derailleur hanger, and best guess is a sixties date of manufacture.) it is heavy feeling and I'm guessing the tubes are nothing fancy. I bought it because I loved the luggs and have since learned a ton about old bikes and would definitely not purchase it today...but oh well. I was lucky enough to find a NOS NIB Campy Gran Sport french thread bottom bracket...which is still in the box today. Maybe someday I build it up.
Thanks in advance for any information.
