Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

First snow on the commute in today!
Looks like it's off the carbon fiber Trek and onto my mountain bike for the winter!
Whee!

We've had snow for a couple of weeks in Montreal. The snow I like, the salt I hate.
Of course, by April, when we're usually hammered by a late-season blizzard, the snow gets pretty old... Winter in Montreal... from the middle of November to the beginning of April. That's like five months...

this morning in Munich it was 0C and i had rain/snow on the morning commute. Friday's supposed to snow a little but it won't stay on the ground.
i like having snow in the city and i'm all ready with the studded tires. i've rarely had trouble riding in the city in snow other than times when you couldn't drive anyway... but then i never lived anywhere with LOTS of snow in the city (Worcester Mass and Munich Germany get some but total only about 4 week a year of snow on the ground)
i do wish there were no salt. i think things would be just fine with just snow removal (snowplows) and a little sand/gravel - besides, salt is so polluting. the Western US is much better than the East Coast or Midwest or Europe where they all use a lot of salt (to my knowledge)

We had another dusting...1" or so last night. So now have 2" on the ground! Still does not feel like winter, other than 15 F and 30 MPH winds out of the NW. Was too windy for me to bike in today. Was not very excited about those kind of head winds and a "feels like" temp below 0 F.
