Hi! I just signed up and I'm eager to see what all is on this board! I found this site while searching for instructions on making my own bike repair stand. A few inexpensive tricks I found during my search are:

1. Suspend your bike from the garage ceiling with rope at the seat post and steering tube.
2. Use your car bumper-mounted bike rack, if you have one.

I'm looking for something more like a traditional bike repair stand that I can build myself. I'll let you know if i find anything!

Look up something called slotted angle, maybe at Home Improve stores easily assembled using simple nuts and bolts. pieces are lite weight easily cut or the store may do it for you. looks lite angle iron but with multi sized slots on the entire length. My first x country trip I made my own bike carrier that I bolted to the front bumper of my trusty van, very very versatile material
