Not to start a whole new Brooks saddle thread (there have been alot lately) :o , but I just got a B.17 and all looked good until I turned it over and noticed there was a "crack" that spidered it's way from one side to the other right about where my weight will be. It looks like it is just a surface crack and for all I know it's normal, which brings me to my question..... Is this normal? Here are a couple of pics so you can see what I'm talking about (hopefully I know how to upload pics).

Those look more like creases than cracks. What kind of warranty does brooks offer? I know it is at least 2 years. If it gives you any trouble durring that time you can send it back for a replacement...but that saddle looks fine to me. I am still waiting on my swift... Happy Trails Ty

Looks normal to me. I never had a Brook but an Ideale leather (very similar) for > 20 years, still have on an old bike but don't use it much those days.

I hadn't even thought about the whole two year warranty thing. When in doubt, ask the bike forums community. I just put the first application of proofide on. Feel free to let this thread die. Thanks.

My new B-17 has the same type of creases on the bottom. I looked at my 4 year old professional and it has creases also. I would'nt worry about it.

I've had several Brooks saddles of various models, and if I remember correctly, including my current Brooks, they all had those lines on the under side. I wouldn't worry about it. But, have you applied any Proof Hide under there yet? Looks pretty dry to me.
