When you're reading a post that you want to reply to and you want to quote the author, use the 'Quote' link:

You can also edit the quote by deleting some of the text between [ B ] and [ /B ].
I've seen many replies where an entire 5 paragraph original post is quoted.
I edit out everything except the phrase or sentence I'm replying about.
