They are sticking it to Issac Hayes.

They're just taking quotes of him from earlier episodes, right?

Rev.Chuck

I was unfortunate enough to not be able to see this episode. I read on CNN that Issac Hayes, the voice of "Chef" due to "racial issues." Would someone care to explain what the episode did to "Stick it to Chef"

Haha...Rather curious...Chef is an epic character.

I have never watched the show but I read a news article about this. Isaac was willing to 'be the voice' while North Park stuck it to other religions but quit when they turned on Scientology, his own religion. This was BBC online.

Wait...are you guys referring to the past episode with Tom Cruise acting like a maniacal actor, or are you watching a new south park episode mocking the controversy over the other south park episode.

The thing about him being fine with making fun of religions as long as they weren't scientology was one of the few insightful things I've heard come from those guys in an interview (ie, not in a script).

They used clips from past episodes to voice Chef. He went to the Super Adventurers club where he became a pedophile. The kids denied this and turned him back to straight at a strip club. Then returned him to the adventureers club to confront the club. Chef is killed and torn apart by a bear ond mountian lion in a Indiana Jones-esque scene. He is reborn, at the hand of the super adventurers club, as Chef Vader.

Personally.... as a longtime South Park fan.....I loved it!! I espoecially liked the thinly veiled attempt to portray the Super Adventure Club members as "Scientologists." Chefs actual death at the hands of the Bear and MT Lion was too funny! Caartman" Your not dead until you #h@t your pants..." Chef @h#ts his pants.... Cartman "Oh nevermind." Freakin' classic.

Good for MAtt and Trey!

It was a new episode but they sometimes repeat episodes on Thursday and/or Saturday nights.

Who's that in the red suit and mask doing the heavy breathing?

Will chef come back with "another" voice?
Kenny came back every week after being killed. He even came back after being gone a whole season. Butters just wasn't Kenny.

<edit>
Here's a link to Comedy Central. The Chef episode will be on tonight and a few other nights this weekend.

Wow, I just done watching the episode. You can definitely say lawsuit. They store Chef apart, literally at the end.

Chef sh*ting his pants at the end was classic...

I have a feeling this season of South Park is going to be Sweeeeet. The world at large just keeps giving Matt & Trey more great story ideas.

KevinmH9
03-24-06, 02:35 PM
The show could just keep going and going. All they have to do is relate some world/national/local issue with the show, and bam they got themselves a story somehow revolving around South Park.

The rumor is that it's a publicity stunt.

And an ingenious, effective, and hilarious one at that. I mean, seriously, every message board I've been to is abuzz with South Park threads, for the first time in at least three years.

For what though? Character defamation? Chef is fictional. I know there's some creative lawyers in this world, but I don't think they have a case.

It's clearly a parody and the pre-recorded voice tracks are property of the show. Legally speaking, Isaac Hayes wouldn't have a case. He could maybe get really angry and throw a hissy in public making the show even more widely watched but otherwise he can do nada.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't think it was that great. The story was good but I think it lacked the full-on funny of other episodes.

Taerom
03-25-06, 09:33 AM
Yeah, there are funnier episodes. They were just bashing "Chef" too much in this one. It was still a good episode though.

Oh, come on now...you know you about laughed yourself to tears when chef was going into his whole disturbing dialog at the school cafeteria. I know I was.

I agree that it could've been funnier, but I think this episode was more about sticking it to Hayes/Scientology than being funny. The horribly cut Chef dialogue had me cracking up, tho.
