who is up for a damn good blt!

i am gonna go get, what i consider to be the best blt in nyc (imho), on friday afternoon, for lunch.

the blt is $9 and comes with a salad. my vegetarian friends are welcome to come for lunch as well, but i cannot attest to the menu's badass-ness. (although i spose i could share my blt salad)

I once ordered it at the Tasty Place in Philly, because it was about the only thing on the menu I hadn't tried. The waitress looks at me, squirms, and goes to the kitchen. The chef, an old guy, comes out and says: "Bitter mellon is very bitter. Even second-generation chinese dont like." I ask: "Why? does it taste bad?" He goes: "Uhhhhhhh." I say, "let me try it."

I tried it. It was ass-nasty, but I ate the whole thing and pretended like I liked it. The chef grinned.

I strongly approve of that sandwich. Yum.

If anyone else is up for tasty sandwich at some point, Melampo (on Thompson north of Spring) makes some MEAN Italian sandwiches... and there's a park right there as well. Good for eating outside.
