Just curious how many people on here are cyclocross racers? i.e. you have raced your cyclocross bike in the past and you are planning to race next season?
me---yes I have and will.

I haven't raced 'cross yet, and I don't know if I will (there's always that "maybe"). I raced road and mountain back in high school, and used 'cross to train in the winters. Working at bike shops allowed me to sacrifice road bikes into "psuedo-cross" bikes. Returning to cycling after 12 years away from the sport, I decided on a 'cross bike for multi-purpose riding but also to soothe a long-festering fetish for 'cross that I developed back in my racing days.
BTW, your blog gets better and better. I assembled an Excel spreadsheet for my bike, with columns for the weight of the stock components (many of which I had to do research on) and columns for upgraded components and thier respective weights. I'm still a few pounds and a few thousand dollars away from being on your blog though. According to Cannondale, the 2005 cyclocross weighs 21.75 lbs w/o pedals. the Gippieme T3 wheelset with Shimano-compatable hubs weighs in at a whopping 2190 grams!!!

If someone could send me some info or links to SoCal or NoCal cyclocross races, I will make sure and be there.

the last two years i've done a couple or three races each winter. hardest freakin 40 minutes of my life. i raced c's and mostly finished at the back of the midpack. my goals were not to finish last and not to puke and it was tough not doing either. hopefully next winter i'm gonna do more.
juvi you should check out www.backontrackproductions
they do the urban cross series in the south bay each winter. really fun.oh yeah, last years elite mens winner demolished the rest of the field at a couple races on a fixie. impressive to say the least.
i race cx and i'm at the point now where it has become the focus of my training. i used to take mtb racing seriously, but now i just to them for fun to get ready for cross. its only march and i'm already psyched for next season...but its a good thing its about 5 months away because i've got some training to catch up on!

If, by "race", you mean "raced once a few years ago, finished mid-pack in the C race, and now considers himself an expert on everything", then yes, I sure do race. :)
I'll bet there's a lot of folks like me who want to race more than we actually do.

I always thought "cyclocross" and "race" went together. Nobody has ever asked me to go do some "recreational cyclocrossing"!

I used to, but I tweaked my knee last year, and it has not felt the same since. Good enought to ride the bike.....but I'm not brave enough to test it out on the course after last year's accident.
Yes and your website rules. Using some of your bike profiles for my new ride

Yes - been racing for a couple seasons now. A crash at Coyote Point put an end to last season but already looking forward to next season. There are lots of great opportunities to race here in NorCal.

I have "raced" for 3 seasons but I would use that word rather loosely.
Infamously last! All the time! & I'll be there to defend my last-ness once again this season. I am actually looking forward to it :)

i agree with you xlntrider79 about cyclocross and racing going together, but i think a lot of people come to the cyclocross section to find out more about cross bikes because they want a better commuting bike, or all arounder etc.
thanks for the kind words guys, i just figured out how to make the Title Header very cool, much better than the stock Blogger type header that was there before.
I know what you mean about $$$=a light bike. A goal of mine buying a stock cyclocross bike and showing the cheapest way to get it down to Plus One Lap gallery standards of sub 18 pounds.

But isn't that what we need to call it when I go ride the big loop at Wilderness Park that also includes about 2.5 miles of paved and shell road in its 15 miles of single and double track?
