What is the best way to keep mr. happy warm on these cold early spring rides. Let's focus on clothing strategies as opposed to other methods :) would layering down thers with a wind brief or something cause chafing?

I have to say that on my coldest ride ever, I actually wore cotton briefs and my mister was plenty happy. The toes nearly had to come off and the thighs were all red and patchy, but the brief area was warm enough. Now, this may have been because I never got warm enough to sweat, so without the moisture my mister was plenty temperate.
Have you considered stretching before your ride?
Wind briefs as an additional layer have worked well for me on the few winter rides I've done. No chafing for me.
My coldest ride this year was 0F. When I got to work I was sweating about as much as 80F. My thumbs were cold, my toes were cold, but Mr. Happy was ok.
I was wearing cotton briefs (yes, cotton), poly pro long johns, shorts, wind pants.
8F was my coldest ride this year. No problem with the crotch. If I ever have an issue down there things are seriously wrong. I tend to run a bit warm.
Clothing:
Cycling shorts
Tights
Jogging pants
I have a pair of poly longjohns I have yet to use. The next time it is cold I may try to fit those under the tights and leave the jogging pants in my panniers. More aero.
I've ridden in temps down to the low 20s wearing polypro long johns under a pair of wind pants or rain paints. Both worked well.
Usually isn't a problem. In very extreme temps with a lot of wind, sometimes i put a wool sock inside of my sock in front of that area, it blocks wind and helps to insulate. I'm talkin' temps below 0 F windchill here.
When it's 0F, I wear bike shorts under sweats, under polypro pants. Mr Happy is warm and ready for a shower when I get to work.
Roger Clemens uses Icy Hot when he pitches. That maybe a little extreme...
I stuffed a wool sock into the front of my tights (in between my thermal undies and tights)
Works OK, (and I look more manly!)
Excellent suggestions. Thank you!
I wear Under Armour Compression Shorts (long) under my tights.
always nice to have a hog warmer.. what ever it takes.. nice little fleece pullover.. a sock.. or even an umblrella sheathe... what ever it takes.. to get the job done.. then there is always the quailman approach where you just thro a set of whitie tighties over top of your cycling shorts to keep the cold air off.. that way the seams don't end up between you and your chamois..
or even an umblrella sheathe...
:roflmao:
but is it NJS?

Stretching Mr. Happy?!?!?!?
I have another theory. Don't ride in the winter:p
Never had frigid penis.
I haven't either...ever. That's why we have SHRINKAGE!! I think if you're uncomfortably cold down there, you should have things checked out. I've never even thought about the issue before now.
Stretching Mr. Happy?!?!?!?
Thank You, I was afraid no one was going to get that...
