What does 'Savvy' mean?

I bought a data cable for my phone of the internet, and couldn't get it working so i emailed him and he replied back saying that I was no too 'Savvy', i was quite offended. I thought maybe he was insluting me in Chinese, (since i think he was chinese because his enlgish wos nat two good.)

Oh ok, i should have been a bit nicer in the return email :). I thought savvy ment 'brain'. And he said i had no brains! Oh well he'll get over it.

I always thought savvy meant 'ok.'

YOu migth hear the terms
"Computer Savvy" "Tech savvy". This applies to a person with a thorough understanding of computers, who overall knows what they are doing.
Or a person overall who understands technology.

According to my etymology reference, "savvy" is originally West Indian pidgin from either the French or the Spanish as above, both of which are from the Latin sapere, meaning "be wise". As are the English "sapient" and the "sapiens" bit in "**** sapiens".
