I need help of someone thats good with legal stuff. So last night i got arrested. And ther town took my bike, and is using it an investigation. The cop said 3 scenarioesoculd happen, they could remove the stoeln property on the bike(grips) and reutrn it to me. The could return it to me after the trial. Or the town will take it because it help aid me in the theft of bike grips and a skateboard deck, and auction it off. Can they do this? If they do this will be 3 bikes I lost to the town of Barre, MA(2 were stolen). And im up sh*ts creek cause my dad said that he wont buy me a bike if they take it away(even though my birthday is 3 weeks away, and they will end up anyway). Right now im in the process of building my hoop d to hold me off. Not liek im going anywhere anyway cause im grounded for 2 months.

I've said before that the average Jerry's Kid has more brainpower than FTC, and I do believe that this more than confirms it.
If I understood you, you're a kid that got caught with stolen property, and it was confiscated. I don't see a problem (??!)
Get a part-time job or arrange with your Dad to work around the house for allowance money, and buy a legitimate, not hot bike when you can.

not to be a pain in the A, but what goes around comes around.
you took from people, and now they took from you.
an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, you got what you deserved.
correct me if im wrong
your complaining because you robbed some kid and got caught?
besides. who steals bike grips anyways

Better question, why is it the kid who claims to have a great job, a nice car, wants to put disc brakes on his bike, and has a family that can obviously afford an internet connection needs to steal grips?

Answer, FIVE finger discount. While its was a stupid idea, Im sure theres people in these forum that have made a mistake like this. Heres the thing. Everything on that bike was mine. Except for the grips. I did have a job, but the was bailing hay. Seeing how I live in New England, and spring just started, I dont have a job right now. I never wanted to put disk brakes on my bike either, nor do i own a car.

A "mistake" would be walking out of the store with something, realizing it, and then going back in to pay for it.
You didn't make a mistake.

No no no, Beerman you've got him confused with that racersk66 guy or what ever, and FTC didnt steal 2 bikes before, he had them stolen from him. the only thing he took were grips. I think this is stupid and i dont think they are acctualy allowed to take your whole bike. They should just make you pay for the grips you took from the shop and maybe a fine or the shop my ban you for a while or they could make u do some comunity sevice but i doubt that would happen. I don't think they are allowed to take your whole bike though

I've never stolen a bike in my life unless i had to(pink girls mtn bike to get home). Im saying I'vbe had 2 bikes stolen from me in that town. And the town is probably taking my bike from me. It doesnt matter to me what some guy on bikeforums who 3000 miles away thinks of me. It was a stupid thing of me to do. I know that now. People learn from their mistakes. Am I pissed at the cops? No, Im mad at myself for stealing, and having my bike tooken away. Now all I have to start from is, 99 GT Performer, and $50. What I've decided to do is yard work, house chores, in exchange for some money, and save up like $300 and buy one of those danscomp parts packages. And put the parts on the performer frame.
how do you get caught for stealing grips?...just say there yours?

Glad to hear you take responsibility, and hope you're able to get the money for a new bike build. Did you manage to return the pink bike too?

your local bike shop has video cameras that they review over the suspision that someone might have stolen such bike necesities as
grips?

Jesus you're dumb. If you don't have a way home stealing someones bike isn't a "have to". What if that girl who owned that bike didn't bring here bike that day, and you did, and she decided to steal your bike to get home because she "had to"? With the roles reversed, does that situation make sense to you, or seem right?

You're a dumbass. You shouldn't get your bike back, because the only way you'll learn a lesson is for it to suck major. If all you had to do was pay for the grips, you had zero penalty. The cops should give your bike to the shop. They should let you buy it back for 10-20x the value of those grips. Don't like the penalty? Don't do the crime. It's retards like you that give BMXers everywhere a bad name. Dumbass.

Hahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahaha. Your An Idiot. Hahahahahhahahahahahhaha
I'm sure they have a right to confiscate your bike as it had stolen property attached to it. You should know better, just as you should know not to ask for legal advice here. Chances are you may not get your bike handed back to you, but you'll be able to buy it back at a police auction.
I'll sit back and enjoy the irony of that.
Man, I've seen some morons in my life, but this one makes all the others look like Einstein.

I still dont understand why you stole grips that you could most certainly afford...and even worse a SKATE DECK. Stick with bmxing. Good luck and hope you get your bike back.

If this story is remotely true, I will call my friend in the Police Department in the neighboring town and see if I can ensure they prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.
Don't steal. EVER! I can't believe that anyone would EVER take something. Anyone that steals is on the lowest level of the scum of the world. I'd but thieves on the level of rapist, molestors, and tree huggin enviromentalist.

I never "get" the raging animosity towards environmentalists (which by the way is a strictly American phenomenon - you don't hear it in any other country). Aren't you an environmentalist, ie. someone who doesn't want the environment to be destroyed? After all, I assume that beautiful kid is always going to need to breathe and drink.

hopefully not, people like him are the reason why i need to constantly watch my bike when i stop at a store or pull stuff on you and tell you to hand over your bike. one less BMXer with sticky fingers is a good thing if you ask me.
There is a difference between responsible 'enviromentalist' and wacko tree huggin nuts. Don get the idea that I wan to destroy the enviroment. Thats a huge leap. But the nuts jobs that think a dirt bike rut on the side of a hill should cause a whole selction of land to be shut down to dirt bikers under penaltly of law are out of their minds. It's happend. Also closing horse trails, mountian bike trails, not alowing farmers to do what they want with the land they own and pay for. Private property in America is an allusion. Public property is an allusion. It's all controlled by a few nut wacko tree huggin freaks. The stories are many. Thankfully since I left the Soviet Republic of California and moved to Pennsylvania, it's a few years slower out here. I have riddin my dirt bike along the power lines, you can still rides horse alot of places. But the hunters did manage to get the game land shut off to horses. Which makes no sense. Millions of acres of wooded land, used for a few moths a year by guys who hide in tree to shoot something. Enviromentalism is a religion in America. The responsible are seen as nothing by the wack jobs. The 'tree huggers' would rather see humans extinct. The frustration on my part comes from someone who is completly out of control, the 'tree huggers' have to the control they do in shutting down land used responsibly by the rest of us. Here's a true but unbeleivable story. A few years ago, there was some huge forest fire raging across the midwest. A contractor offered to take some bulldozers out there to cut a fire break. They enviromentalist said no. Then he offerered to replant any trees that he removed in order to stop the fire, that was destroying trees. They said no. There are more crazy stories like that. You can insult me all you want. Makes no differnce to me, I place no weight on what anyone of you thinks. Really. Especially if you try to defend the tree huggers.
Well, enough of that.

So what other countries have you lived in? Because the Greens Party in Australia is pretty damn big. Ever hear of a band called Midnight Oil? They've only been around for about 20 years, and have a huge following with environmental-minded Australians. Or have you wondered why the US ships so many of our forests off to Japan? It's because the Japanese are smart enough to know that it's wrong to cut down trees. It's not a "Strictly American phenomenon".
This thread has taken an interesting turn, but I'll leave it here as long as you guys don't start with too many personal attacks.

Yeah prosecute a 14 yr old, with no prior criminal record to the fullest extent of the law, sounds really smart. Im sure everyone that has made a bad decision, and got caught should have the same treatment. Anyone who knows people that have been through the legal system knows, most of the time it makes the person worse. Im just gonna stop right here. Oh, and by the way, for the past week i've been working my ass off doing yardwork, to try and earn the money to build a bike.

Wouldn't surprise anyone. And did you ever hear the one about a pot and a kettle?
Tell you what, if you don't want to remain kicking boy #1 around here, this is what you should do:
1. Write a letter of apology to the bike store owner, explaining you're a stupid kid and you're sorry for what you've done. Not just sorry you got caught, but truly sorry for giving in to selfish temptation at other's expense.
2. Offer to work around the shop for a whole day for free, in order to show that you mean to repay your debt to society. And I don't mean $9 for grips. I mean all the time and trouble you're putting the shop owner, the police, the court system and the Taxpayers of your jurisdiction through. That's a whole day, gratis, of sweeping the sidewalk, washing the windows and whatever other crappy jobs they want you to do. And do it all day with a smile on your closed mouth.
3. Never, ever steal anything again, regardless of the justification in your little mind. Pink bike, gumball, diamond ring... the pricetag matters not. The first step to developing a personal value system is to understand the concept of personal property. What's mine is mine, what's yours is yours. That's why you should lose your bike -- to reinforce that being on the receiving end sucks.
4. Stop trolling to try to get Beerman or Expat or whomever to flare up. Lurk for a while, and add something only when you can useful or helpful, or if you have a legitimate question you want help with.
Don't wanna do this stuff? Don't expect us to ever give a tinker's damn about you or your "troubles".
My $.02.

Mude and FTC, if I see **** one more time from either of you, we'll start with a 48 hour ban, and go from there. I've handed out plenty of warnings lately, and they seem to have been ignored. Banning seems to get attention though.

We probably all have different opinions about the enviroment, and that's cool. That's what voting is for. But I'm sure we're all on the same page regarding stealing. What ever you want, just pay for it. It's not that hard to earn a few hundred bucks. And you don't get in trouble.
