On December 22, 2005, the New York Times ran an article regarding the NYPD's use of plainclothes and/or undercover officers in connection with policing Critical Mass bicycle rides, which inspired some discussion (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=161564&highlight=undercover) here on BikeForums.
In the article, Jim Dwyer discussed the arrests of several undercover NYPD Officers as captured on videotape by other non-uniformed NYPD Officers. Those tapes were turned over in connection with a criminal proceeding arising from an arrest made by NYPD Officers on April 29, 2005. On Monday morning, that case died a quiet death in New York City Criminal Court, when the Judge hearing the case accepted the District Attorney's motion to dismiss the case based on speedy trial grounds.
