Just curious, how do you get treated medically?

Do you see a conventional doctor who prescribes you something? See somebody who practices holistic medicines?
What do you do?

I get my treatment from M&m's.. when something hurts I just dive in chocolate, beats having someone from online tell me what kind of medecine is best according to him.
And if chocolate doesnt help, of course I go to my physician who knows me and cares for my health.:)

I go to the Nurse Practitioner in our town. He can do pretty much everything a normal doctor can do. But most of the time I just tough it out, unless I'm really sick and dying.

I see a general practitioner at least once a year for general check-up, then on a need basis. I suffer from chronic asthma (like millions of other people). I have never used any alternative medecine, though I would not condesend alternative treatments such as homeopathy or acupuncture because they have worked wonders for people I know, other than that I don't know, I would have to research a lot before I take the plunge.;)

I ask because I go to see a homeopath, as does the rest of my family. We drive 75 miles to Boston to see one, and i've not met a single person who has even heard of it.

There's a roll of duct tape in the tool box, paper towels on the kitchen counter, and booze in the cupboard. The last time I saw a doctor was over 5 years ago for a high school sports physical.

Guys who were in high school five years ago don't really need doctors very often.

I normally just tough it out but I can see the wisdom in Blondie's M&M treatment. :D

YES M&M's are the way to go. But in all seriousness I go to the dr for my annual and any other time if need be.
I'm very lucky in to say I probably only get a cold once a year and that still doesn't mean I have to visit the dr.

I visit my dr once a year for a checkup. Every few years I have another issue that requires an unscheduled visit. The last time was to treat my allergies during the summer colorado was on fire (poke at governor owen). However, some of this is due to my idiotic masculine I can tough it out attitude. Stupid.

Unlike my wife who lives at the doctor.

I only go to the doctor if it's very bad, or involves lots of blood loss.

Pneumonia: I deal with it myself....I've had a problem with this ailment most of my life, and have gotten quite skilled at getting it out of me without drugs.

Flu: Bah, just have some Jagermeister before going to bed. If it doesn't clear up in 3-4 days, hit a doctor.

Broken bone: depends, I've broken the knuckles on both pinkies...never hit the hospital...I just splinted them, and pretty much ignored them until they healed up. If it's something I can't splint and ignore, I hit the doctor's.

Pretty much I am very against medication, unless there is a dire need for it. This "a pill for everything" mentality that the medical field has now frightens me....we have adapted against diseases for thousands of years, we should not be medicating ourselves for even the most minor of colds....adapt and overcome!

If it aint broken, if it aint gushing blood by the gallons and if it aint infected Doctor's can't help you. When I slammed into a barbed fence wire and blew my shoulder out, but was able to pull it back together. I went to the doctor the next dayu and he looked at the shoulder, which was different from the other shoulder and prognosed "the topology looks good" and wouldn't even take an x-ray. It is 9 months later and the shoulder still doesn't look like the other shoulder and is still numb :p but yeah

If it aint broken, if it aint gushing blood by the gallons and if it aint infected Doctor's can't help you.

As of the administrators at a very large medical clinic, I go to one of the 250 physicians at my clinic.

I only seek treatment from people that have a precription pad and use it generously....

I have to see the doctor about once ever month or so... other than that I like the pie method...

A normal healthy individual at my age should see the doctor maybe once a year or so... did I mention I hate hospitals!

I see a Physician's Assistant (PA).

He's about the best health care provider I have ever had.

He can explain what's wrong and how he's going to fix it not only to me, but to my young sons.

He is also a diver, so he understands more than most about dive medicine.

Because of my mother's bout with colon cancer (and she's now 16 years cancer free!), I have to undergo a colonoscopy every three years. The guy that does that is an MD.

I am required to take a physical once a year for Scouts, and it's almost time. Thanks for the reminder.

Fortunately, I have a very good health care program.

I've only been to a doctor for a physical and to get stitched up. And for the last three years, the doctor comes to me at work for the physical. I still have to go to the emergency room for stitches.

For me, if aspirin doesn't work, it must need stitches.

Lucky! I have to get scripts, so I have to go to a conventionally trained doc. Not a lot of choices at student health, but once I'm dumped into the big wide world I'll find a DO. PAs are good for simple stuff, but I've got enough issues that it's only a MD/DO for me.

I only go for scripts and bloodwork. In general, if I can't figure out what I have my GP can't either, so then it's time to head to a specialist.

I've been to the dr. once in 11 years. Had an ear infection and the woman made me go. waste of time and money. told the doc i couldn't take penicillan derivative antibiotics, he *swore* what he was giving me was fine because it was drops instead of a pill. Three weeks later the swelling went down in my ear canal and my hearing came back two weeks after that. the infection itself had cleared up 5 days after i saw the quack, i mean doc.

and the woman wondered why i didn't go when i broke my ribs or my knuckle, or even when i was sick for a month with some kind of flu/pneumonia. my body is designed to fix itself, if it doesn't it's time for me to die anyway.

heh, i had pink eye over the weekend too, all i hear friday and saturday is 'go see a doctor to have that looked at', well, it's monday and it's cleared up, yay body!
