I went to phoenix, here are some pics I took. I rode about 200 miles over the trip, shredded my front tire and ended up getting a new one. Blah blah.

The road splits, the trails are only smooth for a few miles then It gets rocky, and more rocky the further you go

This is the trail part right before it gets really rocky, and rocks protrude out of the side of the hill

This was so much fun to do, normally I couldn't ride stuff like this. But I took peoples advice and put my butt behind the seat

This is me on my way back going down, in the right corner you can see the rocky downhill part in the previous pics

More rocky parts, I took pics after I rode down it so you can see detail better. This section accounts for 2 of my 3 falls.

Thanks for the good picts, NoF3ar. My wife and I have toyed with the idea of a vacation to AZ sometime (one place we can easily trade our timeshare to), but I was unsure of the availability of good riding. Guess you answered that. Gotta go sometime.

Arizona is packed with a+ trails. Best trails Ive ever been too. Of course Ive only been limited to trails where I live here in ca before now. The trail head was like 3 minutes away from my aunts house, it was awesome.

Here's some more advice:

Fix your brake levers. They shouldn't be parallel to the ground. If they're properly positioned (30-45 degrees down) you'll find that you'll have more control on the descents and your wrists will thank you.

Hopefully you didn't stick to Desert Classic for 21 days straight with so many great trails nearby (National, Geronimo, 24th street Mormon, Holbert, Telegraph Pass, etc.).

Looks like the same place. On trips like that remember, variety is always king.

All I rode were any trails I could find branching off of the original trails. That whole trail system, it goes for miles and miles and breaks off in many directions. I don't know is that all desert classic? I went up the mountains on both sides, I also rode through a spot where it goes sort of through the mountain I don't know how to describe it. It was closer to where people were walking more.

I didn't have much notice before I left, I didn't even bother to see if there were more trails. I was basking in the joy of getting at least something different from california.

Desert Classic is 9 miles long.

Maps are wonderful things. Desert Classic is the relatively tame trail, and offshoots, that are South of South Mountain proper.

Man everyone in that neighborhood rides 1000+ dollar bikes. Everyone on the trails is riding either a fsr dualie from specialized or a cannondale. Probably something to do with the bike shops in the ahwutakee area majorly selling mid to high end specialized and titus bikes. Dang, I want a specialized :(
