While coasting on your bike, jump as high as you can off of the bike, doing as many twisting maneuvers as possible.

Don'tmind Klein. When a question has been asked 1,000,000 times he tends to get sarcastic :)...
Do a search, you will find lots of help. Manual really aren't very useful, they can't be used anywhere except to impress people...

Manual really aren't very useful,
I am going to disagree with you on this one. When racing or out on the trails for some fast riding, manuals are very handy if your intension is speed and how fast you get down the hill.
The trick to getting down a hill quickly is to stay on the ground and keep your momentum up.
If you can manual then you can speed jump. This is done when you are approching a small table top or a set of bumps that may be about 1' to 4' high.
Instead of jumping over them ( which will cause you to slow when you land because your momentum will now be going into the ground rather then down the hill and there is the possibility of something going wrong on take off or while in the air) you lift the front tire placing it on the top of the obstacle and allowing your bike to rise beneath you keeping the wheels firmly on the ground and your momentum heading down the hill.

Added note.
You must learn to time the lifting of the front tire and the timing of getting back over your rear tire as you go over the top of the jump or you will end up on your face very quickly or pile your bike(you will learn the meaning of "Yard sale")

I stand corrected...although I suppose when I think manuals I am thinking long distance coaster wheelies (I hate that term). The ability to short manual is very useful. But at those distances I call it a simple front wheel lift.
Either way the balance learned is useful. :)
My son goes to a BMX forum, it is here:

At the top, click on "speak out" then "trixbaord". There are alot of good discussions there that might help.
