Rhino Records just put out a good single disc Black Sabbath “hits” cd. I bought it to fill out the gaps in my collection. I haven’t heard the music in a long time. Sounds good.

But...

I’m older now and I can't help thinking of all the parents that downright freaked when they heard this stuff coming out of their teenage son’s bedroom. These sounds were scary.

I’m talking serious conversations about what is wrong with this kid and where did we go wrong.

Is it not essential that good rock is supposed to freak out your parents?

Black Sabbath still creeps me out a little...in a good way. When it first came out, that had to be a parenting nightmare, all right.

Bill Graham said Black Sabbath was what made him get out of the promoting biz in the early 70s. Ozzie is kinda detestable, ain't he?

Yes, Randya, but think of the sheer brilliance of the concept: vocalist, guitar, and bass all playing EXACTLY the same musical phrase in unison, repeated as many times as necessary.

Sabs? HA! Imagine my poor parents...I'm an Alice Cooper fan! :D

My kids don't stand a chance of freaking me out!

I'm not sure if that's him or ol' what'shername, especially now. I think Ono set the modern-day standard, tho.

Do you make your kids listen to him? That'd be cool...and good parenting!:D

Oh, by the way, thanks for bringing up Alice Cooper. I still need to rip The Life And Crimes... to my MP3 player...I've only had it for, like, a year or so.:o

Sabbath is the most misunderstood band of all time...

Great stuff. Not scary at all...
