I'll take Basso, against Landis, Vino, and even throw in Leipheimer and 30 seconds.

Basso, Levi, Ulli. There's your podium kids, and yes you can thank me later! ;)

As much as I respect and admire the Z-Man, I don't think he's got the mountain legs to win the Tour. Basso, Vino, Ullrich. Actually it'll be interesting watching Ullrich and Vino ride against each other. Wait, we've already seen that, haven't we. It'll be a great TdF.

To ease the depression Ulli is now got his head burried in his favorite strudel. He's allready 3kilo's heavier than yesterday.

Boonen doesn't have a chance at the Tour overall.

I'd say Basso, but the Giro this year is a killer.

Landis? doubt it.
Vino? he needs to learn how ride in a team to win TDF.

My thoughts:

If Basso doesn't overextend himself in the Giro, he's got a very very good shot at winning the Tour.

Landis won't win it unless his team is able to survive the three week ordeal. So far, they've been able to support him through weeklong stage races. But will they be able to last THREE WEEKS? My opinion: no they won't.

Vino will be the darkhorse. He's shown that he's got the drive and the skills. All he needed was a team...and it's still too early in the season to see how the Liberty squad will ride for him. My guess is that he'll take Heras' Tour team, beef it up with his fellow Kazakhs, have a fantastic Tour, and podium.

And then there's the Kaiser...It's been three years since he came so close to winning in 2003...In 2004, he didn't podium, and in 2005 he podiumed because Michael Rasmussen had a bad day at the office...With Pevanage back in the driver's seat, there may be some team organization, but it's too early to tell...the Jan hasn't raced yet... :(

DocRay and 2Roadies- funniest posts in the forum! :D

I still love Ullrich. I just hope it's not an excuse for him.

Supporting Ulli is like supporting Scotland at football (soccer). There is always the worry, but when it comes good it's all the sweeter!

Go Jan!
