to which cables are you refering? i am more of a fluid guy than cable, but since no one else commented yet i couldn't resist.
it is my belief that cables are pretty much cables. what would be a quality cable for XC will also be a quality cable for FR.
i think lots of people like avid flak ones or what ever they're called.

Dry Cables work pretty well, they're are sealed system, check them out at www.drycables.com
