Hi. I'm looking to put cross levers on my road drops for commuting. They seem like such a good idea, but I can find very little online about them. Will they work with nonaero brake levers? And if so, HOW do they work? Thanks for you help.

Non-aero brakes would be kindof sketchy on most cross levers that I'm familiar with. You're welcome to try though. The housing wouldn't fit too well, I don't think.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of them for just riding around, however, in a race situation I'd suppose that they're pretty beneficial.
I actually wrote to Paul Components, and they said that their cross levers work only with aero levers. I assume this is true for all. Thanks anyway.
The reason they only work with aero levers is that the cables must run along side the bar tops and through the cross levers.
The cables must be contorted into awkward positions when trying to use non-aero levers.....but I don't see why it wouldn't work, given enough cable slack for smooth action. But again, the setup is gonna look kinda weird. I wouldn't do it.
yeah just buy some aero levers----theyre pretty cheap $15? setting up the cross top levers is pretty simple----basically, just make a break in the housing and mount the levers----the brake cable doesnt get cut at all. what happens when u pull on the cross lever then is that the lever pulls the slack out of the brake cable.
i think if you want another hand position (with brakes) this is a good option.
