it's a piece of ****

Harmony Korine is a moron, I'm not even gonna watch Julien Donkey-Boy (it was in my netflix queue)

the only reason Korine isn't working at McDonald's is because he wrote the script for Larry Clark's Kids (an okay movie) and his ex-girlfriend is Chloe Sevigny

he used to be a "member" of Dogma 95, which is a film group of people who put out absolute ****--headed up by Lars Von Trier--probably one of my favorite directors, but the Dogma 95 **** sucks

not sure where you mistakenly heard "The Award Winnig & Highly Acclaimed Movie 'gummo'?". The film is known universally as an absolute piece of **** (I think it was Pauline Kael that walked out because it sucked so bad), and Harmony Korine as an onoxious jackass.

see if Interview magazine has an archive, lookup "Korine" to see just how obnoxious and stupid someone can be

really really bad film, I'd be interested where you heard "Award Winnig & Highly Acclaimed"--I've never read a review that didn't say this movie wasn't one of the worst pieces of **** the reviewer had seen, and I've only heard Korine talked about as a complete hack--a guy who was thought to be brilliant after writing Kids back in '94, but absolutely flopped at everything he did since.

I don't really pay much attention to media ratings & judgings i do it for myself:)
By the readings of your post i would imagine your response to that would be in a form of a question which would be is , "well then why did you put up your post in a question form then"?
I know that GUMMO was an award winnig & highly acclaimed movie cause i made it rightfully so in my own.
I highly related to the part when those 2 kids had that cat hanging from the tree by the tail & switched it to death & kept on till its guts were spewing from its mouth..:D
That flick was actually a reality show.
"working at Mc Donalds" ? whats wrong with that?
I know how to independently think on my own :)
Regardless if something is a "flop" does not exactly mean that is was no good.
Now that you have stated OTHERS reviews:(

i dunno...i liked it. maybe it's because i lived in a ****ty little town like that. reminded me of what i would have seen growing up if i'd spent more time paying attention to people instead of riding my bike around (like the kids in gummo. but i didn't shoot cats).

the soundtrack, anyway, is indisputably badass. if you like metal. which i do.

Ha, I was cracking my knuckles, readying a masterpiece of a post about what a POS hack Harmony Korin is, but Ziggurat beat me to it. If any of his movies are even remotely watchable, it's probably "Gummo," but you'd be much more entertained by "The Dancing Outlaw: The Jesco White Story" because it's an actual documentary and much more entertaining. Apologies to sngltrackdufus if I've insulted any of his family that appeared in "Gummo," but it's a turd of a movie.

Oh, and "Julian Donkey Boy" was a pretensious piece of ****, too, which, ironically enough, is exactly how I feel about every Werner Herzog fan I've ever met.

apologie accepted:D . now that you mention it, it IS a spittin' image documentary of me , family & neighborhood.Lots of bicycle ridin' goin' on in that flick. I resembled that in the fact that i use to ride around with a BB gun slinged to my back. Now i roll with a 12GA :) .

pffft, chloe sevigny jumping on a bed is the only redeemable aspect of that POS film

seriously--try and find some interviews with Korine

EDIT: Harmony Korine interviews (http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&num=100&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=harmony+korine+interview&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=images)

Herzog sullied himself beyond redemption after starring in The Incident at Loch Ness, a cheesy "mockumentary" that had him clowning for the camera

Why would someone want to find "interviews" with Korine? I don't want to marry her. I just happen to like & relate to the flick. I don't snoop around picking out interviews & read the CRITICS results to make decisions for ME.
I don't really care for Werner Herzog flicks because to me they are boring.
I do like Akira Kurosawa flicks though.
Along with those Zatoichi (the blind samurai) flicks:)

Harmony is a guy :o

understandable though, Harmony is normally a female name--his parents must have been hippies :D

 checkout Takeshi Kitano's Zatoichi 2003, very good

That's just it. like i mentioned i don't pay a whole lot of attention to the fabricators of the flicks , i just watch & either i like or i don't. I did just find out from your link that Harmony was a guy
I agree on the "hippie name".That is an odd name for a man. :roflmao:
yeah, i will check out the newer Ichi flick.

Totaly agree. What a waste of time. I was stuck on a Navy vessel so I didn't have a lot of viewing options. Only benefit was Chloe Sevigny in the bikini in the pool near the end. Seems like another movie for the 18-26 year old wanna be hippie crowd to sit around and over analyze all day. Total crap
