Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello bicycle nuts! My name is Karl Rejman and I'm from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I'm about 1 hour north of Montana and an hour's drive east of the Rocky Mountains.
I have been searching for information on cycles lately as some jerk stole my Trek 820 with Rok Shok Indy front fork. I'm sure the jerk is enjoying my bicycle as much as I did :(
This forum looked friendly and full of knowledge, so I am happy to join. I'll probably read way more than I post, but I am happy to be here.

Welcome. There is a lot of info about what to do after a bike is stolen. There is an active group up in Calgary involved in a friendly commuting contest and posting here. They give extra points for sub-zero (C) weather. We have a different climate down here. The Jet stream has stalled and the old rainy days record of 24 rain days in March was broken yesterday and it is raining now.

A pleasure to meet you Ken!
I've been bikeless since late August. I've been taking my time lately checking out things. When I bought my Trek 820 with the Rok Shok, that was my first bike from a bike shop instead of Sears :) That bike was a million times more of a bicycle than what I was riding.
Now though things have changed so much (this would be 6 years or so since I bought my Trek). There is a A LOT of information to learn about so I can make a good decision. I'll take the time I need.
I was considering a Montague folding bicycle, as I thought it would be great to be able to put it in my car trunk, store it inside my place in a closet, etc. I've been reading what I can on the net about it though, and I'm not sure if it would be the best value for me.
I went to a few local bike shops and this one guy had the nerve to give me 2006 Kona and Norco catalogues! After half a week they look like I've been reading them for a couple of years! I'll be going to the bike shop again today to take a longer look at some bikes.
That folding montague sure appeals to me because of the folding issue, but I would still worry over any folder. I ride mostly on pavement, but I'll be riding on trails by the river here, as well as up and down coulees. I can afford one bike now, so I have to make a good decision. For the money I'd have to pay for a Montague, I can get a Kona or Norco with WAY better components. Oh, decisions decisions. I may get to check out a dealer in Calgary that carries Dahons as well. That may help, but maybe not! I need a shrink ray so I can make a full sizer shrink down for storage. I'll check e-bay for one.
Thanks again for the warm welcome! I'm going to go check out a Kona Shred and a Norco Rival now :)
