Picture 100kb too small.

I have a problem when i try to make my image 100kb in size it makes the picture so small that ist not worth posting. Do i have to take the photos in a lower quality?

Use a program such as irfanview.com (free, do a google) which allows you to keep the size you want but you can change the % of sampling to edit and reduce the file size of your picture. Your picture stays the same size, and yes, you do lose some picture quality, but you can hardly see the difference when viewing on the web.

Be sure to save it with a different name if you want to keep your original quality on your original photo.

This is a really neat and flexible quick edit program.

It will appear during the "save as" process. You may choose a percentage of sampling for quality

After you open the image and make any changes you might want (size, contrast, other stuff or nothing), then click on save (file, save). A screen (dialog box) will appear to the right of the save process with a sliding scale from 0 - 100, along with some other options. Choosing 100% will keep the picture the same size in KB. If you choose 50%, it will be much smaller in size.

I usually resize the picture (image, resize) to about 640 * 480, then save at about 85%, which should make it plenty small to upload, yet still retain some quality.
