Hi, Im a big newbie to the anatomy of shocks. I was wondering if someone could give me a brief overview of a shock, ie, stanchions and what the diffrent types of springs mean. Thanks

Nice illustration Klein! (Especially the sticker part) :)
The different springs make the shock stiffer or softer depending on the weight of the rider and the type of riding they are going to do.

Come on Klein. What about the external or internal adjustments? The valves, the air chamber, the springs, the oil? What about those funny little posts sticking out at the base of the arch? What about seals?
I thought you would be a bit more detailed then that.:p
