Commuting - Gotta watch my testosterone

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I was cruising through this construction zone on my bent, and this genius in a pickup decides to squeeze by me even though there are two lanes and I am almost keeping the speed limit. So I give him a Whats a matta wit you? hand wave, only to have him get stopped in a traffic backup up ahead. Of course I am still irritated at him and for some inexplicable reason I pass him and move in front of him and stay in front of him until after the construction zone. He didn't even honk or call me a clucking wasshail or anything like that, he just turned right up ahead in front of me. It then occured to me that the chances of him being a hothead were pretty high and it was probably not a wise move but it was still cool to get away with it once I guess.
Do not piss off the tin bodied ones, their wrath is terrible to behold. Two years ago in Chicago an SUV driver and a cyclist had a verbal exchange after the driver drove dangerously near the cyclist. The driver hit the cyclist, backed up, hit him again, and again, and again, and again... Tragic and stupid.

Barking at dogs that bother you is never a good idea -- it just causes more problems. Same goes for drivers.

42x16 and Banerjerk are correct. I aspire to be like them. On the other hand, I feel your pain. It's not easy keeping your temper.
I got hit by a car and walked away with nothing more than a 6 inch bruise on my calf, a cracked fork/frame and sheared crank. Rode the lady's hood for 10 feet and flew off when she finally decided to hit the brakes. I consider myself lucky because I walked away and it helped me ride much more defensively and not let my adrenaline get the better of me (even though the accident in question was completely her fault).
Even though I lost a bike, I think it was one of the luckiest things to happen to me; it completely changed the way I ride.
