This is my last bike vs bike thread! I'm serious this time!

I've been dead set on a Giant XTC 3 for a month, however today, my boss offered my a Candondale F400 (with disk), RRP $2100 for $1500. I can get the Giant with $230 off, so it works out that I will pay $200 more for the Cannondale.

All price aside, i need my mind made up in 2 days. I know NOTHING about Cannondales, however the F400 that i test rode was absoluley fantastic. It handeled amazingly, the geometry is fantastic. And...its LIGHT (compared to the XTC3), it really feels like a better or 'more proper' mountain bike then the XTC3...however.

I'm just a bit edgy on the forks on the Cannondales. I dont have problem with Lefty's but the F400 has a 'head tube' suspesion and it looks really weird sort of plus its only 80mm (its full air with no external rebound adjustment). I love the fork on the Giant though (Rock Shox 318 Tora Solo Air), and the Giant 'looks' better.

I have to make up my mind if i should purchase the bike on 'looks' or performence. If you were in my position, would you spend the extra $200 for the Cannondale? Also anyone ridden the F400, who can comment?

Thanks!
:)

What year did they make an XTC 3? I would go with the Giant. I dont like Cdales. I rode one for 5 months too long. It built character.

There both 2006 models. I've never had any expereince with Cannondale before, but they seem to be appearing more and more in the race scene today.
