How should i reroute the cable so that the cable carving out from the shifter is under the cable coming of the bartape on the left? Is there a way to do it without disconnecting the cables? If not , how should i disconnect them? I would like to do this myself without going to the LBS. Thanks.

Yes, that looks like they are binding a bit. It would be cleaner to do it the other way. Easiest way would be to release tension on the rear brake and undo to cable from the caliper so you can re-route it. Then hook back up the rear brake after moving the housing around.

Thanks vw addict , i did what you told me and it turned out well. I also did the front brake cable too. The whole thing is clean now. Although , when i am tightening the cables to the brakes , the square thing that clamps the cable refuse to be straight.No matter how i straighten it , it always slants when i am tightening the bolt. Am i ok so as long as the clamp is tightened tightly?

The cables all 3 look a little long to me. The brake cable could be shortened so that fitting the old way might be a nicer fair lead for the housing.

Now you know why some mountain bikers like to cross their shift cables under the downtube, so that they can route each gear cable from its respective shifter to the cable stop on the opposite side. Unless one's cable stops are mounted unusually low around the curve of the downtube, this trick won't work on a road bike.
