General Cycling Discussion - Wife caught me in the shower with ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

....the Bianchi.

Well I wasn't really in the shower, I just didn't feel like going out in the cold and washing it off so I brought it in and stood it in the shower and hosed it down gently on pulse.

I don't think I have ever seen a look on her face like the one she had when she realized what I was doing   She said she thinks I love that da** bike more than her. :) Of course I think she was teasing but I sure wish I could have taken a picture of the incredulous look she gave :)

P.S. Dish soap nicely cleans up any grease spots that stick around on a plastic tub.

Sounds like you need to stand your wife in the shower and hose her down gently on pulse. She's jealous.

That's funny. I am glad I'm not the only one. The look I got from my friends when I answered a question on how I keep my bikes clean during the winter was priceless. It was a sort of "disturbed but not quite sure if he is serious" look when I told them I give my bikes a shower.

But really, it does work well when you get home after a muddy or wet ride and put the bike straight in the shower and clean it off. Then lube it after it dries. I live in a place where the past renters must have been elderly and the shower head is removable and there are handles where I can hang my bike by the seat and it makes washing them very easy. Good stuff.

On a semi-serious note though, a contributing reason I broke up with my ex-fiance was my love for bikes. I don't think she liked them as much as she said she did. Be careful! (Just kidding)

Jeeze, she shouldn't get mad unless she found you naked in bed with the Bianchi.

Back in my college dorm days, I always washed my bike (MTB) in the shower. My floormates were sometimes not too pleased with the large clumps of mud I left behind.

I can't believe all the reasons we are finding on this forum not to get married. In another thread we discovered that marriage can lead to getting beat up by motorcycle gangs. Now in this thread we discover you may be be able to wash your bike in the shower! I think you better talk to your wife and inform her that unless she gets her priorities straight you are walking! :)

I wouldn't do that:eek:
I wouldn't want my computer to get jealous of the Bianchi :)

thewalrus started a thread in road cycling with a new LBS ad that bears a striking resemblance to your situation.

as about wifes and cycling....
i've heard such a theory that cycling can affect men's sexual potrential... i wonder whether thats true..... if it is..., that's another point of competition between women and bicycles...

and , one more thing: do u think riding is like kissing? please express your point at http://www.infohub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2049
